What is a Standing Stone?
The Standing Stones Men's Ministry name is taken after the ancient practice of erecting large monoliths (massebahs) at the spot of something of historical or cultural significance, or of miracles of God. It was to make future generations ask "Why is that stone there.." and they would then come to know and learn their history. Ray VanderLaan, in one of his faith lessons, pointed out that as men, our lives ought to stand for something as well. So our men's ministry at THBC adopted the name of Standing Stones in our quest of learning and growing in the spirit, and in all good things .... to stand.
"...you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ." 2 Peter 2:5
